SAP QM Consultant / Product Owner – Japanese speaker

My client is looking for a SAP QM Consultant / Product Owner who is responsible for defining product vision, managing and prioritizing the product backlog, and ensuring that the development team delivers high‑value features that meet business needs. This role collaborates closely with stakeholders, global process owners (GPO), business architects (BA), IT product owners, and cross‑functional teams to maximize product value and drive successful product delivery in an Agile environment.

Product owners will support stakeholders and global process owners as part of the transformation journey, and contribute in key transformation projects on a global level.

Product ownership & value delivery

• Define, communicate, and continuously refine the product vision, scope, and roadmap in alignment with Global Process Owners and the overall SAP program objectives
• Translate business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational needs into clear, prioritized product requirements and outcomes
• Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business value, dependencies, and release planning
• Act as the single point of accountability for the assigned product (e.g., Inbound Operations, Warehousing Operations)

Solution design & decision making

• Represent business requirements toward the implementation partner and IT while ensuring fit-to-standard SAP design
• Drive and resolve Solution Design Decisions (SDDs) within the delegated authority, escalating only material deviations to the Global Process Owner
• Safeguard process standardization, compliance, and global template integrity by challenging customization requests, balancing business value, risk, and long-term maintainability

Agile delivery & quality assurance

• Act as an active member of the Agile delivery team, including:

• Definition of acceptance criteria / Definition of Done
• Validation of sprint outcomes and business readiness
• Review and sign-off of completed functionality, including unit-test evidence

Testing & deployment readiness

• Prepare, plan, and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including scenario definition, data preparation, tester onboarding, and execution governance
• Ensure end-to-end process test coverage, including integration and negative test scenarios
• Support cutover planning and execution for the product, including business readiness and rollback considerations

Data, integration & architecture collaboration

• Support Business Architects in defining data objects, attributes, and ownership for business processes
• Support and validate data migration activities, including reconciliation and defect resolution
• Coordinate product integration points with other Product Owners, Business Architects, and IT to ensure seamless end-to-end process execution

Compliance, documentation & enablement

• Support Global Process Owners and Business Architects in creating and maintaining GxP-relevant documentation (e.g., GSOPs, validation deliverables)
• Conduct training and train-the-trainer sessions during project and non-project phases

Performance & continuous improvement

• Define, track, and monitor key product KPIs (process performance, adoption, quality, stability)
• Identify improvement opportunities and feed them into the product backlog for post-go-live optimization

Required

• At least 7 years of experience as a QM / Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role
• Strong understanding of Agile frameworks
• Proven ability to write effective user requirements and acceptance criteria
• Excellent communication, problem solving, and stakeholder management skills in a global organization
• Good levels of spoken and written English

Preferred

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe PO/PM, or equivalent certification
• Experience working with DevOps tools e.g., Jira
• Strong functional hands-on experience and knowledge in SAP S/4 modules (i.e., PP, MM, others) and SAP rollout methodologies (SAP ACTIVATE)
• Possess excellent understanding of key operations-related business process (e.g., PLAN, SOURCE, MAKE, DELIVER) and process frameworks (e.g., SCOR, APQC, SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework)
